PUSH: THE MOVIE IS FINALLY HERE!!!

I have to say that of all the books in the world the book PUSH by Sapphire is one of my favorite and now it has been made into a movie and was premiered at the Sundance film festival by up and coming Director Lee Daniels.
The movie stars Gabourey Sidibe as Clariece Precious Jones, a young woman who grows up in a world of abuse, molestation, rape, and verbal assault all from within her own household. Even her mother (Actress/Comedian Mo'Nique) lends a hand to make Precious' life a living hell. The film also co stars Mariah Carey as Ms Wice a social worker who desperately tries to get Jones out of her horrifying circumstances. THIS WILL BE THE MOVIE OF ALL MOVIES TO SEE THIS YEAR.

A CURIOUS CASE INDEED

So on Xmas day myself and a few friends went to see the Curious Case of Benjamin Button and I must say that the movie was really good. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a lot of Oscar nods this year because it was actually an excellent film which broke away from this years lackluster performances and album trends. Although 2008 wasn't so great of a year in music or movies this one definitely sets itself apart.




Teraji P. Henson is one of the characters in the movie who surprised the heck out of me because she actually stole the show, putting on a great performance as Benjamins adopted mother. (She loved that ugly little boy with everything she had....lol) but for real Im not one to do free advertising but this movie is a must see, although the end is quite creepy and once you see it you will know exactly what I'm referring to.

So for all my faithful you know Im not good at Album reviews because I have a problem with unpaid promotion but Commons new release UMC UNIVERSAL MIND CONTROL is guaranteed to be an instant classic that I will rep to the death of it. With songs like "gladiator" and "Changes" which pays homage to president elect Barack Obama, Common has masterfully entered the realm of GREATEST OF ALL TIME. For those of you who only enjoy the ever prevalent ring tone rap or "simple minded ass clap music", this album would not hold true to your low standards and/or poor taste in what you have been tricked into believe is music. (Please dont forget this is my SHITT, I say what I want) This album gives the starving conscience rap listener the brain food that only those of the likes of Common can feed them. Stepping above the title of a rapper Common is a true Emcee and will be outdone by no other which is why this Album is the HOTTNESS SO GO CHECK IT OUT

The Story.
So on the 4th I casually stood in line with my homeboys and girl.. at Kroger in College Park when I spotted a magazine with Barack Obama on the cover so of course, being an Obamite I had to peak inside. When I did I found a world of excitement in this overwhelmingly African American Publication. Not only did it highlight the AAA (Affluent African American)community, it also inspired those outside of that community to gain an insight that would make them strive to become apart of this community and even assurance that entrance to this community isn't that hard. This months issue has Barack Obama as its cover guy, and also includes some very interesting stories by Spike Lee who is interviewed, in a no holds barred conversation about his undying support for Barack.
